When Tiredness Isn't Just Physical

There are days when tiredness doesn't go away with more sleep. You get up, keep up with your routine, get through everything… but something in your body and mind keeps feeling heavy. And it's not always lack of rest. Sometimes, it's something else.

Mental load isn't always visible. It's not only in what you do, but in everything you think, organize, remember, and hold at the same time. Staying on top of everything, anticipating what's coming, solving things before they happen, often in silence. That constant buildup can feel like tiredness, but it's actually emotional and mental overload.

Holding things up is exhausting too.

There's an idea that gets repeated a lot: "you can handle it all." And yes, you probably can. But that doesn't mean it comes at no cost. Holding others up, being present, accompanying, caring… all of that takes energy. And when there's no space to let go, pause, or simply be, the body starts to speak up.

Tension shows up in the neck or shoulders, trouble disconnecting, a constant sense of exhaustion, or a mind that doesn't switch off even at night. It's not just physical tiredness. It's buildup.

In the middle of everything you do, you also need a space for yourself. And it doesn't have to be something big. Sometimes, self-care starts in the simple: stopping for a few minutes, breathing, slowing down. These are small moments that help you step out of autopilot and reconnect with yourself.

                        Small rituals make the difference

When mental load is high, radical changes aren't always sustainable. That's why creating small rituals throughout the day can be more effective: simple moments that help you come back to yourself, regulate, and regain your balance.

                        • For the morning

Starting the day with intention can completely change how you experience it. Taking a few seconds to breathe deeply and connect with yourself makes a difference.

                        • For the day

In the middle of the routine, taking small pauses is also part of self-care. You don't need much time: just stop, breathe, and release built-up tension.

                        • For the night

Closing the day with calm is as important as starting it well. It's the moment to let go of what you no longer need and prepare the body for rest.

At any point in the day, even in the middle of the routine, taking a conscious pause, even a brief one, can help you release tension and let go of what's built up.

You don't have to hold it all up alone

Recognizing that you're holding too much isn't weakness, it's an act of awareness. And from there, you can start making small changes that help you feel better. It's not about stopping doing everything, but about finding spaces where you're present too.

Maybe you can't change everything right away, but you can start with something small: a pause, a conscious breath, a simple ritual that supports you. Well-being doesn't always come from big transformations, but from small decisions sustained over time.
