Flower therapy

What are flower essences?

A simple, natural method that works not with the physical matter of the flower but with its essential quality: a subtle energy field, preserved in water and alcohol, which on meeting another living being acts by resonance and brings it into balance.

Our origins

Thirty years sharing the message of the flowers

More than thirty years ago, Dr Santiago Rojas Posada brought flower therapy to Colombia as a way to support the wellbeing and balance of his patients.

Siu Tutuava was born from that: preparing and sharing the message of the flowers, a message that reaches beyond therapy and becomes a path of personal and collective growth.

Flower essences awaken awareness. They open the mind to a deeper understanding of one's own nature, help name what hurts and clear the way for growth. Meet Dr Santiago Rojas

The definition

What they are, and what happens when you take them

They are a simple, natural method that uses certain wild flowers without drawing on the physical matter of the plant, but on the energy and essential quality of each flower.

An essence is a subtle energy field held in a water-and-alcohol preparation which, placed in the energy field of another living being, acts by vibrational resonance and brings it into balance.

Once taken in, it travels along the meridians to the chakras or energy centres, where its effect shows first in the emotions and, as far as conditions allow, later in the body.

Every flower holds a characteristic quality. Given to someone living in fear, that person takes it in until courage gradually displaces the fear. Which is why essences are not a shortcut: they make room for a growth that remains your own.

By emotion

The essences, emotion by emotion

Emotions run across the whole catalogue: each one gathers the essences that accompany it. Recognise how you feel today and see which flowers walk with you.

How they work

From the flower to the bottle

The flower is the plant's furthest transformation and the moment when all its energy is unfolded. Holding that quality and bringing it within reach of another living being is what a flower essence does.

  1. 01

    The flower

From its marine origin as algae, then moss and fern, the plant changed colour, temperature and texture until it became a flower. The flower pours out energy and beauty; the seed stores them for later.

  2. 02

    The water

Spring water is able to hold the message the flower gives: it receives its quality and keeps it.

  3. 03

    The preparation

Alcohol preserves and carries that message on, so it reaches the bottle intact and lasts over time.

  4. 04

    The meeting

Placed in the energy field of the person who receives it, the essence acts by resonance: the quality of the flower is taken in and expressed as one's own.

And it works just the same for
Flower essences take no one's responsibility for their own life away. On the contrary: they make you aware that the source of healing is within you.
In practice

How to take them and how to care for them

Keeping an essence's vitality takes a few simple precautions. None of them is complicated, and they all add up.

  • When to take them

    • The best moments are on waking and before sleep, when attention is relaxed and the energy field more expanded.
    • Also after meditation or a relaxation practice.
    • If you take several a day, leave at least five minutes between doses; that way three in the morning and three at bedtime fit without missing any.
  • How to combine them

    • No more than five essences per bottle.
    • Do not mix different flower systems.
    • They do not interact with pharmacological medicines: they can be taken alongside them.
    • For children or people sensitive to alcohol, prepare them in water or vinegar.
  • Where to keep them

    • Tightly closed, somewhere cool and away from sources of heat: stoves, radiators, heaters.
    • Not in the fridge; if unavoidable, wrapped in aluminium foil.
    • Never freeze them.
  • What to avoid, what helps

    • Keep them away from appliances in use, mobile phones and metal mass.
    • Avoid X-ray machines; if you cannot, keep them in a wooden box with the bottles wrapped in foil.
    • Near quartz crystals they are preserved and strengthened.
    • Half an hour inside a wooden or metal dodecahedron re-energises them.
    • The ones you no longer use need not be thrown away: they can water your plants, which take them well.

We answer your questions

Frequently asked questions

Do flower essences replace medical treatment?

No. They are not a replacement for your doctor or for other well-indicated therapies: they support integrative personal growth and can be used as self-help and alongside other therapies.

Do they have side effects or cause dependence?

They do not cause dependence. They work on quality rather than on the body's chemistry, so their action is gentle; if an essence does not match your moment, it simply has no effect.

Can I take them with my medication?

Yes. They do not interact with pharmacological medicines. If you need to avoid alcohol, dilute them in water or vinegar.

Do they work for children, animals or plants?

Yes, just as well for people of every age, animals of any species, and also plants and minerals: growing soil, cleansing quartz and gemstones. For children, prepare them in water or vinegar.

How many can I combine in one bottle?

Up to five, and without mixing different flower systems.

Where do I start if I don't know which essence I need?

With "Discover your essence", which starts from how you feel today, or with the traditional essences of Dr Bach's system.

Start with today's emotion

You don't need to know about flowers to begin. It is enough to recognise how you feel today; the rest is letting yourself be accompanied.

Flower essences do not replace your doctor's judgement. They walk beside it.
