Ancient civilizations had a clear awareness of the connection between man and nature, in which there was no distinction between the two, but rather a close bond that couldn't be separated. Different cultures such as the Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Maya, Inca, and Aztec developed astronomical calendars that were used for agriculture, the performance of religious rituals, and social organization, among other things.
Today, modern man is recognizing the connection with the cosmos with the help of astrophysics and the telescopes that send us new information day after day. As well as thanks to the studies carried out by the different branches of science. In this way, we have more and more information about what's happening in the solar system, in the galaxy, and beyond. And so, we learn about the discovery and orbits of comets, the presence of solar storms, stellar movements, and how we're influenced by these changes.
Solar Storms
In recent weeks, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States has kept us informed about the presence of solar storms. Interest in this topic arises because solar storms can affect communications, satellites, and power grids, which matters a great deal to our technological society.
However, it's worth noting that just as electrical signals sustain the communication networks of our modern world, it's been discovered that similar signals do the same thing inside our bodies. “Bioelectricity is how our cells communicate with each other,” says Sally Adee, an expert in this field and author of the book “We Are Electric.” Every cell in our body (bones, skin, nerves, muscles) carries a voltage, like a tiny battery, and solar storms can affect it.
Comets
Recently, our attention has turned to the sky with the appearance of the comet “Atlas 31,” the third interstellar object to have traveled through our solar system. It was discovered in July 2025 and has sparked the curiosity of many, along with thousands of scientific theories and fascinating stories.
Regardless of whether these theories are true or not, what's interesting is that we're beginning to recognize that comets can carry information, and that we live immersed in a sea of energy of which we're a part. In the past, other comets have visited us (Comet Nishimura) and more will come. Each one will spark expectations and leave us a new legacy. Our task will be to decode it and make it part of our lives.
The Tides and the Moon
To understand the behavior of earthly phenomena such as tides, it's been necessary to look toward the sky. In the past, it was thought that tides depended exclusively on the Moon's movements and its gravitational pull. Today, we know that the Moon's gravitational force is the dominant factor, but the pull of the Sun also plays a role. With this, we recognize yet another way the Sun influences our life on Earth.
Our Inner Tides
For hundreds of years, people have talked about the impact of the moon's phases on human and animal behavior. Changes in mood, sleep cycles, births, and menstrual cycles, among others, have been attributed to it. Modern science continues to investigate in order to find answers and determine its range of influence.
However, while research moves forward, it's important to acknowledge the existence of variations that are evident in nature and that are associated with the moon's changes. All it takes is to look around us and see these shifts, or to pay attention to our own body. To start noticing our own fluctuations in appetite, sleep, and energy levels, among others. And so, to immerse ourselves in our own universe, while the connection to it becomes clear.
The Future
As we explore the cosmos, we keep expanding our view of the universe we inhabit. Science will keep offering us data, research, and new ways of understanding. However, the possibility of connecting with the vastness we're part of is within reach of our hands. We invite you to experience it day by day on a cosmic journey that will take you to explore yourself.
