How to Use Flower Essences on Pets

Flower essences are a complementary therapy to veterinary treatment, as they support behavioral and emotional processes.

Flower essences are a natural treatment with no contraindications, used to support veterinary therapy in balancing the emotions and behaviors of pets or companion animals. Their dosage plays an important role in helping each animal's behavioral processes.

Three ways to use it:

We can give them in 3 ways: orally, topically, or by spray — all 3 will have the same effect, but the difference lies in the pet patient and the easiest way for us to administer it.

By spray

One way to apply flower essences on pets is by spraying or misting them into the environment, ideally in the place where our animal spends the most time, depending on which behavior we want to correct or support.

For example, with cats it's harder to give them orally, since trying to open their mouth and put the mixture in becomes difficult. That's why it's recommended to give it by spray — inhaled, the flower mixture will work just the same.

Direct application

This is the most common and recommended way to give flower essences to companion animals, since taking it directly gives faster results but with the same effectiveness as the other methods of use.

In the case of dogs, this oral administration is more useful since they're more open to human contact.

In the water bowl

An easier way to give it to both dogs and cats, though it has one drawback: sometimes we can't tell whether the animal actually drinks the water with the mixture in it, so the result might be that it has no effect. Because of this, if we decide to put it in the drinking water, it's best to serve a smaller amount of water with the mixture, and once they drink it, add more water — this way we make sure they've taken the flower essence.

Topical

Lastly, there's topical use — we can apply it to areas of the skin with high absorption, such as the paw pads (our pets' little hands), the ears (the inner part), or the abdomen, and it will also have the same effect.

Dosage

  • 1 drop 4 times a day directly in the mouth.
  • Dilute 1 drop in 7 tablespoons of filtered water: give 4 drops of this mixture 4 times a day.
  • 10 drops in the drinking water.
  • Dilute 10 drops in 20 ml of filtered water, spray it where the animal is 3 times a day.
  • Dilute 20 drops in 1 liter of filtered water, spray it where the animal is 3 times a day.
