Flower Essences for Treating Allergies in Children

Flower essences in children have a positive response in relieving different allergies caused by pollen, colds, or seasonal changes, and here we'll tell you which ones are most suitable and how to use them with your child.

Before continuing, it's important to remember that flower essences are not a medication and do not replace pharmacological treatment prescribed by a health specialist, especially when there are skin lesions, respiratory illnesses, or pre-existing conditions diagnosed in children.

The holistic approach of flower essences is considered from the perspective of mind, body, and emotions, especially in caring for children, since they respond positively to the child's personal growth and development.

As children grow, they can experience various emotions and allergies that are related to one another. According to Bach's own writings, just as in adults, "disease is, in essence, the result of a conflict between the soul and the mind — it brings us a message we're not listening to." In the case of parents, it's something we're not fully taking into account.

Flower essences, in this case, turn out to be parents' best ally when their children suffer from allergies, because the essences seek the root of why our children react to certain seasons, weather conditions, or food allergies, ultimately bringing relief and balance to our child's well-being.

Flower essences for allergy relief

One of the advantages of flower essences is that they're safe and have no harmful side effects when used properly. This makes them an attractive option for treating emotional issues in children, especially when trying to avoid medications with possible side effects when it comes to allergies.

  • Impatiens: this flower essence mainly helps keep the little ones in the house from getting frustrated with their allergy — it's common to see children rubbing their eyes or nose vehemently, and they also tend to scratch hives or rashes very hard. This essence also helps them calm down and relax, in addition to supporting tolerance.
  • Walnut: this flower helps with changes from external influences — that is, dust, pollen, rain, and sudden weather changes — so the child can process these adversities in a less traumatic way.
  • Water Violet: ideal for children who tend to control their emotions around their parents out of fear of being scolded, and as a result have allergy flare-ups, especially on the skin, throughout the year.
  • Chestnut Bud: ideal for children with allergy patterns such as atopic-type eczema, highly recommended for hyperactive children with learning and self-esteem issues.

Given all this, we know that illnesses and allergies in our children have an underlying emotion, which is why, as parents, we should stay attentive to our children's day and identify whether, after a tantrum, fear, or isolation, our little one is developing an allergy — starting from there we can choose the flower essence for our children.

How do you apply flower essences?

Flower essences are applied orally and are typically used in drop form. We describe this below:

  • Dilution: Flower essences usually come in small dropper bottles. They're generally diluted in water or taken directly under the tongue. Most parents prefer to dilute the drops in a glass of water so children can drink it.
  • Dosage: Follow the flower therapist's instructions for the specific dosage. Generally, 4 drops are taken 2 to 4 times a day. Flower essences are gentle and non-toxic, but it's important not to exceed the recommended dose.
  • Ingestion: You can give your child the drops directly under the tongue or mix them into a glass of water. When taking them, it's important to hold them in the mouth for a few seconds before swallowing, to allow the essences to absorb through the mucous membranes.
  • Consistency: Flower therapy works through the cumulative effect of taking the essences, so consistency is key when using flower essences in children and adults. They should be taken regularly according to the guidelines for the best results. Some children may experience a gradual improvement in their symptoms over time.

Alergisyn: for all types of allergies, whether on the skin or in the respiratory tract. It can be taken, applied diluted to the skin, in creams or oils, or nebulized if needed.

Recommended Dose: 4 drops 3 to 6 times a day, for 6 weeks or up to 6 months.
